Weather Alert: Cold wave in Uttar Pradesh will remain for two more days, mercury will fall

The whole of Uttar Pradesh has been choked by the North Western icy winds coming through the snow-covered Uttarakhand mountains. There has been an increase in melting and chill with a sharp drop in day and night temperatures.

Day and night temperatures in all the places of the state are registering much lower than normal. This cold wave will disturb the residents of the state for two more days. Schools and colleges have to be closed due to cold in the districts, while trains and air travel are affected. Due to the cold, 18 more people died in the state on Saturday.

Aligarh was the coldest place in the state on Friday night where the mercury was recorded at 1.8 degrees Celsius. Earlier in Aligarh, 46 years ago, on 30 December 1973, nighttime mercury has been the lowest ever recorded.

Cold wave outbreak for two more days
Similarly, 4.4 in Meerut, 2 in Kanpur, 2.3 in Jhansi and 2 degrees Celsius in Bahraich. The harsh winter has also affected life in Bareilly. The minimum temperature in the district has fallen to 3.1 degrees. This temperature was recorded at 8:30 am on Saturday morning. This is the lowest December temperature for the last 10 years. In 2018, the December minimum temperature dropped to 3.2 degrees.

The cold has broken a 4-year record in Shahjahanpur. The maximum temperature went up to 14 degrees 4 years ago. After that in 2019, the maximum temperature has been recorded at 14 degrees maximum on 28 December. The minimum temperature is 3.8 ° C. Not a single death has occurred in Gorakhpur due to the cold. Mercury was recorded at 5.3 degrees Celsius on Friday night. So far, six deaths have been reported from the cold in the township, but none of them is confirmed. Family members performed the last rites without informing the administration. The laborer died of cold in Santakbir Nagar on Friday night.
