Indian Army rescues 150 tourists stranded in northern Sikkim within two hours "We rescued tourists stranded between heavy snowfall in northern Sikkim. In the two hour intervals, unprecedented snowfall cut off popular tourist attractions of the Lachung Valley, causing tourists to become helpless. A senior officer of the Eastern Command said that the troops of Trishakti Corps immediately instructed the Quick Reaction Team (QRT), including medical staff to detect tourists, provide them medical care and bring them to a nearby army camp. Introduced Army troops launched a rescue operation and carried all the stranded people. There were some elderly and children in the stranded tourists who complained of dizziness, breathlessness and other symptoms related to height.
