First child born, after dead fetus transplantation

A healthy baby girl was born using a transplanted fetus from a dead person.

10-hour transplantation operation - and later fertility treatment - was held in 2016 in São Paulo, Brazil. Mother, 32, was born without the womb.

There are 39 fetal implants using a living giver, in which mothers donated their womb to their womb, resulting in 11 children.

But 10 previous implants from the deceased donor have failed or abortion has occurred.
Medicines given

In this case, in The Lancet, it has been reported that the pregnant donor was the mother of three in the mid-40's, who died of bleeding on the brain.

The recipient had Mayer-Rokitsky-Kuster-Hosarer Syndrome, which affects one in every 4,500 women and as a result the vagina and uterus (womb) fail properly in the form.

However, his ovaries were fine. And the doctors were able to remove the egg, they used to rest with the father's sperm and stabilize them.

The woman was given such medicines which weakened her immune system to prevent her body from attacking and rejecting the transplant.

'Medical milestone'

And after about six weeks, he started the period.

After seven months, the remaining eggs were planted.

And, after the normal pregnancy, on December 15, 2017, a caesarean section was delivered to 6 lb (2.5 kg) child.

Dr Das Clinician's Hospital in São Paulo Dani Agenburg said: "The first uterine transplantation from live donors was a medical milestone, with the access to suitable donors and essential medical facilities, many infertility women had a childbirth chance.
'Extremely exciting'

"However, the requirement of a donor is a great extent because donors are rare, usually interested and qualified family members or close friends."

Dr. of Imperial College London Sarjan Saso said that the results were "extremely exciting".

"This enables the use of a very broad potential donor population, applies low cost and prevents the risk of live donors from the surgical risk."
